麻省理工學院(MIT)斯隆管理學院(Sloan School of Management)一名28歲的中國學生郭衡(Heng Nikita Guo，音譯)上周五(26日)被發現死在劍橋市的公寓內。麻州政府驗屍官辦公室目前還沒有給出其確定的死亡原因。
據了解，郭衡出生於中國蘭州但在深圳長大，曾經在紐約市住過一陣子。她2011年開始斯隆管理學院的MBA課程，預計她將在明年畢業。她創辦了一家公司，希望能結合西方科技及印度與亞洲的一些傳統醫療方式。
一名MIT中國學生向本報透露，郭衡很活潑聰明外向，在課堂上表現非常積極。同學們不敢相信她已經去世了，斯隆管理學院的同學們將合送一個花籃或花圈以表悼念。
郭衡在網絡上有中英文兩個部落格。她在部落格中表示，幼年時喜歡上加拿大的一個連續劇「Nikita女郎」(La Femme Nikita )，因此選擇Nikita作為自己的英文名字。
據她似乎在2011年底放寒假前在英文部落格上的留言顯示，她的生活忙碌而充實，在短短的幾周內，她先到科羅拉多滑雪、去阿根廷過新年、到南極旅遊、回中國過中國新年、然後到新墨西哥州旅遊及參加猶他州MIT校友活動。
但是在今年六月份，她在中文部落格中似乎確透露了自己內心的想法。她稱自己是一名「很自豪的中國人」，她認為「我們五千年悠久的歷史文化和人口第一大國代表了中國的強大，」但「自從文化大革命以後，就變成了既不配稱為華人也不能成為西方人的Chinese，」
雖然外人看郭衡很優秀，但在中文部落格中，她似乎認為自己比不上美國或西方國家教育出來的同學。「在哈佛上暑期班，一樣年紀的美國上層階級的高中女孩子，不論是白人還是華人，都要比我成熟和皮實很多。」「在麻省理工商學院，跟世界的高級人才比，我唯一的優勢就是一口流利的中文。...同學們不光工作認真勤奮，並且十分高效和考慮周到。不光學業和工作的專業程度讓我無法勝出，而且我發現他們很會說話和做人。他們知道什麼時候該說什麼，知道不動聲色地達到他們的目的。」
MIT校長賴夫(L. Rafael Reif)在一封給該校師生的信中說：「在這最困難的時候，我們了解郭女士的丈夫和她的家人的痛苦，損失這樣一個年輕有為的人是極其痛苦的。我鼓勵你們盡力幫助你周圍的人。」
除了可以利用校方的心理輔導服務外，負責學生服務的資深副院長貝克表示，學生們也可以向他們的舍監和研究生居民的導師、兄弟會、姐妹會和獨立生活組的常駐顧問尋求幫助。
MIT校方表示，郭衡的家人要求尊重他們家的私隱。私人葬禮將於11月3日(周六)在波士頓的永福殯儀館舉行，想送鮮花的親友請送到殯儀館。

Heng 「Nikita」 Guo, 28, a graduate student at the MIT Sloan School of Management, was found deceased on Friday at her off-campus residence in Cambridge.
A native of Shenzhen, China, Guo had lived in New York before enrolling in Sloan’s MBA program in 2011. She was expected to graduate from Sloan next year.
The state Medical Examiner’s office has not yet given its determination of the cause of death.
「At this most difficult time, our hearts go out to Ms. Guo’s husband and her family,」 MIT President L. Rafael Reif wrote in a letter to the MIT community. 「Such a loss of a promising young person is intensely painful. I encourage you to reach out to those around you.」
The Institute’s full range of student support and mental health services is available to all members of the MIT community. Barbara Baker, the senior associate dean for students, says students can also turn to their housemasters and graduate resident tutors (GRTs) for support, as well as resident advisors in the Fraternities, Sororities, and Independent Living Groups (FSILGs).
All members of the MIT community who feel affected by this death are encouraged to contact Mental Health Services at 617-253-2916.
The family asks that its privacy be respected at this difficult time. Those who wish to send flowers may send them to Wing Fook Funeral Home, 13 Gerard St., Boston, MA 02119, where a private funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3.
