在89歲的年紀，你還能幹什麼？加拿大第六大城市米西索加市市長黑茲爾麥卡利恩給出的答案是：你不但能開車，能釣魚，甚至，你還可以當市長。
作為全球最年長的女市長，麥卡利恩說：「女性不僅能頂半邊天，還應有更大作為。」
連任11屆32年市長
生於1921年的麥卡利恩，是加拿大最有名、任期最長的市長。自1978年就任米西索加市市長以來，麥卡利恩一直擔任這一職務。2006年，麥卡利恩以85歲高齡獲得多達91%選民的支持而輕鬆連任，這也是她連續11次當選米西索加市市長。
32年前，她首次當選市長時，10名市政委員會成員中僅有兩名女性。現在，在12名成員中，女性達到了9位。而麥卡利恩目標並不止於此，她認為女性不僅能頂半邊天，還應有更大作為——爭取更多聯邦政府內閣席位。
把村莊發展成大城市
麥卡利恩這位傳奇人物本身就是歷史。從政期間，她見證了米西索加從一個由小村鎮組成的集合體轉變為加拿大最大城市之一的過程。在過去20年間，米西索加的人口數字幾乎每10年翻一番。最新的人口普查數據顯示，米西索加的人口已經突破70萬。
麥卡利恩說：「我不用拉選票是因為我每天都在參加競選。儘管我有很多業餘愛好，比如釣魚和園藝，但我並沒有太多業餘時間。我把所有精力放在我的工作上。」
12%的500強企業看好她
麥卡利恩的努力得到了回報，全球500強企業中的58家把它們在加拿大的總部設在了米西索加。而米西索加是加拿大少有的幾個沒有債務的城市，而且從1990年至今，米西索加市民的物業稅也是加拿大最低的。

Canadian Officials Enjoy Shen Yun in Mississauga
Shen Yun Performing Arts is staging three shows at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Canada.

Hazel McCallion has been the mayor of Mississauga for 31 years. She says that the people of her Canadian city are looking forward to seeing Shen Yun return next year.

This Canadian Member of Parliament says he was impressed by the show's color.

「When the curtains first opened up I was like, 『wow.』 It was just a splash of colors and you know some beautiful colors, but it was controlled movement of color.」
There was a genuine appreciation for seeing the show from a former Ontario official.

「It was so beautifully constructed and my heart goes out to the performers who have worked so hard, obviously, to make such a success of it. We thank them for all that they have done to bring these beautiful expressions of Chinese culture to life.」
Mr. Smitherman enjoyed seeing the large drum in one of the final performances.

「I’m very attracted to drums. And I think the part towards the end where they had the drum on stage was that part which was most exciting for me. But overall I must say I enjoyed it all. It was so beautiful.」
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture, which has been suppressed under decades of communist rule. A former Canadian mayor says he was happy to see that culture in the show.

「So I thought it was important that somebody is remembering the cultural traditions and celebrating them. And that takes a lot of courage to do that, so I was very happy to see that.」
